SOLAR COLLECTOR
Where is it?

About half way around the Turtle Rock Trail, you will see Solar Collector about 100 yards to the north. The above shot is taken from the top of Glen Dome (VM = Valley Massif; SC = Solar Collector; TRT = Turtle Rock Trail). If you’re coming from the Holy Saturday trailhead, there will a large beaver pond to your left (one commonly used to cross when going to the Valley Massif) and the TRT takes a decidedly right and uphill trend at this point. Go uphill about 150 yards further and Solar collector will be very visible on your left. There are three routes on the South Face of the formation near its west end, located very near the SC arrow tip in the above photo.
1.) The Has Been 10b Climb a left leaning crack to a horizontal shelf, go left and continue to the top in a harder short offwidth.
2.) Virgin Crack 9 About 40 feet left of # 1, climb a left leaning crack to the horizontal shelf, go left and continue up a crack behind a large flake to the anchors.
3.) Fat Bob’s Skinny Crack TR Roughly 50 feet right of # 2 find a thin seam in a left facing dihedral as seen in the following photo.
