THE SHORT WALL

Home of 'The Short Wall'  and  'The Superb Arete'

Making the hair raising 'gap step' prior to being 'SPIT OFF' ..... or not.

One of the most unique, daring and bold lines at it's grade, 'SPIT OFF' (5.11c, 5 bolts, #1) was put up by

Ken Driese and Larry Scritchfield in 1991.

The gut-wrenching step 'across the void' to start the route has become legendary.

Once started, you are immediately faced with unrelenting 5.11c

on dicey crystals and thin edges - High Pucker Factor!

Either you have it or you DON'T  -

and you will quickly find out !!

There is another route on the 'backside' (northwest face) also put up by Driese and Scricthfield in the same year.

'GROUND UP' is a 5.9 with 2 bolts.
