Many said ... "it was the BEST YET" !!

Thanks go to Margaret Wilson, Neil Humphrey, Kevin Hart and all the tenacious, talented students for "hanging in there" during

intermittent rain squalls and even snow!!

*2002   An abbreviated, yet technically very skilled version of the Vertical Dance Festival was held

on the north face of "Blair Three" at Vedauwoo on September first. There was even a

night time performance that stunned the audience.  Incredible !!

While  there  was  a  hiatus  in  2005  for  various  reasons,

" Dancing Between Earth and Sky 2006 "

was held on July 14, 15 and 16, 2006 for abundant audiences.  The performance has now been incorporated into the well-known Snowy Range Summer Theatre and Dance Festival.  This year, it was featured in the Denver Rocky Mountain News, as well by the Wyoming Council of the Arts and in other local papers.  Both Neil Humphrey (Prof. of Geophysics) and Margaret Wilson (Asst. Prof. of Theatre and Dance) continue to mentor this very unique venue.  Music was provided by and Ensemble featuring all original works comprised of Jazz, 'world' music and aleatoric music by T. Pfotenhauer, Rod Garnett and Peter Queal.

1.)        2.)      3.)

1.) Bridget Bose and Elizabeth Bramlett hold an exciting pose while dangling 50 feet above the audience.

2.) Bridget in inverted repose.

3.) Several cast members explode from the rocks including Andrew Franks-Ongoy high above, the 'Trio' consisting of Anna Keller, Katrina Fisher and Eileen Skidmore, and at the bottom, still far from the ground are Neil Humphrey and Margaret Wilson.

"Dancing Between Earth and Sky 2007"

took place on the weekend of August 25th and 26th.  Two performances on Saturday and one on Sunday were held at the COKE BOTTLE FORMATION again this year to the accompaniment of live music by PQPB and Friends.  The production continues under the expert and inventive direction of Neil Humphrey and Margaret Wilson.  Check out some shots of the action this year.

1.)            2.)

Perhaps one of the most inventive pieces ever presented was the dance of the 'Spider and the Butterfly' (shots 1 and 2), as interpreted by Andrew Franks-Ongoy and Tiffany Forester.   The dancers performed a dance of delicate 'catch me if you can'.  Stunning indeed !!

3.)           4.)

3.) Katherine Rochelle soars out above the audience on a 'high wire' trailing a tail of fabric that sculpts into a myriad of different shapes in the wind.  Absolutely entrancing.

4.)  Katrina Despain and Katelynn Metzger balancing in perfect repose..... it looks so easy, BUT IT'S NOT!

. . . more shots later . . .
